Ameet ShahCo-Founder, Co-Chairman of Astonfield Renewable Resources Ltd.
Mr. Shah drives the financial strategy at Astonfield. An expert in building companies and constructing large financial transactions, he works with Astonfield’s technical and government partners to ensure profitability of each individual project, ultimately leading to successful implementation. Astonfield has a solid track record in India under Mr. Shah’s leadership at forming partnerships with leading international engineering, procurement and construction companies such as AREVA Renewables, Beck Energy and Veolia Environmental Services.
Mr. Shah is also the Managing Partner at Mosaic Capital Advisors and the Mosaic Private Equity family of funds. Prior to starting Mosaic Capital, a principal investment firm about 10 years ago, Mr. Shah worked with HSBC Asset Management Limited in various roles in Hong Kong, London and New York. He subsequently moved to Salomon Brothers in Hong Kong and joined the investment team that oversaw the Salomon Brothers Asia Growth Fund in 1997-1998. Mr. Shah serves on the Board of several emerging US companies—Avadhi Financial Technologies and Real Time Radiography; and he also serves as a Conflict Review Board Member for the Sigma Opportunity Fund in New York. Mr. Shah is an Economics graduate of Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge. Mr. Shah has mobilized investments of well over USD150m in the past 10 years in the United States and India.
Sourabh Sen Co-Founder, Co-Chairman of Astonfield Renewable Resources Ltd.
Mr. Sen is responsible for aligning Astonfield’s operational endeavors with government policy. As Co-Chairman of Astonfield, Mr. Sen oversees all government relations and lobbying efforts and provides macro-level operational and strategic guidance to Astonfield’s Global Executive Committee. Prior to co-founding Astonfield in 2005, Mr. Sen served as Executive Vice President of National Life Insurance Company until 2008 and Executive Vice President of First Investors Corporation from 1999 to 2005. Mr. Sen has extensive global expertise in asset management, cross border investments, strategic acquisitions and working with national governments on asset privatizations.
Mr. Sen was awarded the 2009 Udyog Rattan Award from the Institute of Economic Studies for his pioneering contributions toward developing the renewable energy industry in India. As an alumnus of Don Bosco Schools, Mr. Sen is actively involved in a number of charitable and humanitarian causes in the state of West Bengal, India. Mr. Sen completed his B.Sc from the University of Burdhwan. He was Board certified and admitted to practice financial advisory and planning services in the U.S. in 1996.
Atiq S. Anjarwalla
Atiq S. Anjarwalla is a Masters of Law graduate from Jesus College, University of Cambridge, England, having obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hull, England. He practiced as a Solicitor in England for over 8 years with leading City of London firms, Slaughter and May and CMS Cameron McKenna before returning to Kenya. He is presently practicing as a partner with the firm of Anjarwalla & Khanna, Advocates. Anjarwalla & Khanna is a member of ALN with offices in Nairobi and Mombasa (Kenya), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Kampala (Uganda), Kigali (Rwanda), Bujumbura (Burundi) and Lusaka (Zambia). Atiq has over 22 years practice experience and his practice focuses principally on project finance, energy, capital markets, banking and mergers and acquisitions. Atiq has been nominated as a leading project finance practitioner in Euromoney Guide to the World’s Leading Project Finance Lawyers 2008/9 and has advised on several leading projects in East Africa. Atiq has also been rated highly in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2008 and is described as, ‘one of the sharpest legal counsels you will encounter’. Atiq served as President of the Rotary Club of Mombasa for the year 2004-2005.
Thomas H. Bilodeau, III
Thomas H. Bilodeau, III, is a partner in the firm of Rich May, a professional corporation, located in Boston, Massachusetts, where he serves as chair of the firm’s Investment Management Practice. Tom also concentrates on corporate, commercial, and securities law. He is a graduate of Boston College Law School (J.D., 1996, cum laude) and Bowdoin College (B.A., 1990, Government and Legal Studies). Tom’s diverse practice includes all aspects of the organization and operation of corporations, limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships and other business entities, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, the organization and operation of investment advisors, hedge funds and commodities funds and related regulatory and compliance matters, contracts, secured transactions and public and private financings. Tom is a member of the American, Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations and is an active member of the Board of Medicines for Humanity, a Massachusetts non-profit organization serving the needs of impoverished children worldwide. In 2008, Tom was named one of the elite lawyers in Massachusetts according to Super Lawyers, a joint publication of Boston Magazine and Law & Politics. Tom and his wife, Kelly and their three children, live in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Simon Tortell
Simon Tortell is a founding partner of Simon Tortell Associates, and was called to the Bar in Malta in 1984. He has practiced mainly in the fields of commercial law, civil law, financial services, administrative law and taxation and has created and led a team of dedicated financial services professionals at GVTH. The team advises a number of global credit institutions, asset managers and others, in the incorporation and management of retail funds (UCITS) and Professional Investor Funds for sophisticated investors. The team also advises international players in the field of captive insurance, domiciled and managed from Malta.
