Executive Team

Aparna DoshiChief Operating Officer

Aparna oversees the corporate and operations strategy of Astonfield. She works with technical partners and the finance and operations team to ensure seamless execution on the company’s portfolio. Furthermore, she works with the leadership team to set Astonfield’s strategy. Prior to joining Astonfield, Aparna worked as a management consultant with Katzenbach Partners, where she worked closely with senior executive teams in Fortune 50 companies to redefine their strategy, drive large change management initiatives and deliver breakthrough financial and operational results. Aparna began her career at DLJ. She subsequently joined a start up in London, NetDecision, a technology consulting firm and helped scale the organization to 1,500 people in a two year timeframe. Aparna has her Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and her Bachelors in Law from Nottingham University.

Ravi RainaPresident — India Operations

Ravi oversees Astonfield’s India Operations. Ravi is a seasoned global executive with 30 years of experience in the power industry. Prior to joining Astonfield, Ravi was VP at the Corporate Power Division of Larsen & Toubro, one of the largest EPC and manufacturing companies in India and was responsible for large scale power projects including 4000MW joint venture with Mitsubishi, investment and development in 2 IPP project each totaling $4 billion as well as other projects. Prior to taking his position in Larsen & Toubro in 2004, Ravi was the Managing Director for Wartsila Corporation, a leading provider of flexible power plants holding positions in various markets including, Egypt, Finland, Kenya and India. Ravi has significant experience in M&A and investment management as well as project management. Through his career Ravi has been responsible for and led EPC projects with newly created IPPs in excess of 250MW. Ravi is the recipient of the European Market Research Center Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurial Efforts in East Asia and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Bhopal University, India and is an Alumni of IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.

TC AroraSenior Vice President — Business Development and Operations

TC heads Astonfield’s Business Development and Operations team in India, working with Ravi to achieve the company’s business development goals. The Government Affairs and Business Development team carries out all activities from initial business development concept to securing PPAs, permits, financial closure and finalization of major contracts. TC is a member of the India Operations Committee. TC has over 30 years of experience in the Power Industry, most recently as SVP of Reliance Infrastructure Limited with a focus on 4000MW ultra mega power projects, nuclear initiatives and new business strategy. Prior to Reliance, TC as Director led the Industry and Power Business of Toshiba in India and drove business development and execution for thermal power projects, hydro power projects and nuclear initiatives in India including joint venture with JSW Energy limited for manufacture of steam turbine generator sets in India. He began his career at Technofab Engineering Limited and held multiple cross-functional management roles.

Darshan ShethChief Financial Officer

Darshan oversees Project Financing, Accounts and Compliance at the Astonfield Group of Companies. In this role, he leads the company’s debt financing efforts, coordinates due diligence activities on the company’s project portfolio, looks after day to day financial management, and initiates and leads equity financing conversations. Prior to joining Astonfield, Darshan served as the head of Finance and Treasury at CBay Systems, Ltd. one of the largest transcription service providers in the United States with over $370 Million in annual revenues. Darshan joined CBay in 1999 played an integral role in growing the company to revenues in excess of USD$60M.

Before CBay Systems, Darshan worked as a senior associate with a financial consulting firm in Bombay, India. Darshan has a BS in Accounting and Economics from Bombay University in Bombay, India. He also holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Bombay, India and an MBA in Finance with distinction from Rider University. Darshan has successfully cleared the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination in the US and is also a Chartered Accountant (A.C.A.). 

Allison SenDirector — Corporate Communications

Allison Sen develops and oversees the execution of Astonfield’s communication strategy, including PR, marketing, advertising and media communications. Allison brings a diverse marketing background to the Astonfield team, which included special interest lobbying, live entertainment promotions and most recently pharmaceutical advertising. Before joining Astonfield, Allison worked as an account executive for Euro RSCG Life Worldwide, a global healthcare communications firm specializing in building brands in the health sector, where she managed the marketing and public relations campaigns for pharmaceutical and bio-technology companies. She began her career at FELD Entertainment, a marketing group focusing on multinational entertainment and media companies. Allison received an undergraduate degree in Marketing from the University of Minnesota, where she was awarded the Sieur Du Luth award for outstanding leadership and service to the university community.

Dr. Harinder Mishra (Ph.D.)Director — Corporate Affairs

Harinder works with the corporate affairs and business development teams of Astonfield, helping to bridge between developing relationships and receiving allotments. Harinder has been teaching at Hebrew and Tel Aviv University in Israel for the last four years. Despite his full-time engagement in academia, he has been closely connected to the media scene, having worked as a sub-editor and news monitor at All India Radio for six years during his student days. After coming to Israel in 2000, he continued writing for various newspapers on political and social developments in India and the Middle East. In February 2004 India’s premier news agency, Press Trust of India (PTI) appointed him its Jerusalem correspondent. Harinder is currently working for the BBC and DW. He has won several prizes in academics, co-curricular activities and sports throughout his career. As a man with social instincts, most of his long-term relations were forged on the sports field. Harinder completed his doctorate studies at the Centre for West Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Subrata RayVice President — Business Development & Carbon

Subrata is responsible for managing carbon assets globally, along with Indian business development. He has 25 years experience in the power sector across the renewable, fossil-fired installation and oil and gas sectors. He has also played a key role in all three patents of gas turbine technology vis-à-vis Siemens, GE and Alstom. Before joining Astonfield, Subrata was an Associate Director of Ernst and Young. Subrata authored a book on “Best Practices in Indian Thermal Plants” and has worked extensively with the Government of Japan, Australia and the US in the area of clean coal technology. He is a trained Mechanical Engineer with an MBA in Finance and a Diploma in Industrial Safety.

Abe TarapaniVice President — Global Strategy, Business Development, & Operations

Abe Tarapani manages Astonfield’s global strategy, business development and operations efforts. In this capacity he works with national and local governments to develop renewable energy policy, to identify and develop projects where Astonfield can partner with those governments and to set in place the mechanisms to execute on them in a timely fashion. He also coordinates Astonfield’s strategic and operational planning processes with the company’s Principals and Board. Prior to joining Astonfield, Abe worked as an Engagement Manager at Katzenbach Partners, a New York-based management consulting firm, where he advised Fortune 500 companies on how to undergo transformational changes to their business model to improve performance. In this capacity he worked with companies across Energy, Retail, Financial Services and Technology sectors. He also for a period served as the firm’s Interim Chief Financial Officer and Director of Strategy and Business Development. While at Katzenbach, Abe was recognized as one of the Top 30 Consultants Under 30 in the United States. Abe holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Yale University. In 2000 he was named a Presidential Scholar by the Clinton White House. He is originally from the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea and now lives in New York City.
